- AFS-funded projects
AFS approved a targeted package of top‑up grants to help sustain essential services where needs have increased and ongoing programmes are delivering effectively. Following a strategic review of active national NGO‑led grants, additional funding totalling US$ 1,008,574 was endorsed for Mercy Without Limits (MWL), ATAA Relief and Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (HIHFAD) to complete or extend critical activities and expand their existing grant footprints. These top‑ups will help partners improve health, education and WASH services in priority locations across Idleb, Rural Damascus and Homs.
MWL’s top-up focuses on education and WASH interventions in Rural Damascus, including the rehabilitation and extension of 680 metres of sewer networks in Shabaa and Maliha, alongside the refurbishment of 4,000 classroom desks in coordination with the Damascus Directorate of Education. For ATAA, additional funding will support the rehabilitation of four additional schools, as well as the expansion and upgrading of the local sewage system in al-Qusayr subdistrict, Homs, including the construction of 300 inspection chambers and 1,150 metres of sewage lines. HIHFAD’s top-up will cover the operational costs of outpatient services for one year at Ma’arrat al-Numan Hospital and the public health centres it rehabilitated, helping ensure continuity of essential health services.
