Following Steering Board approval, AFS designed a dedicated Emergency Response Framework to guide timely, coordinated, and evidence-based action during crises. AFS will pilot this new structured approach to anticipating and addressing crises across Syria with initial funding of US$ 150,000.
The framework is designed to respond responsibly to both rapid-onset emergencies such as earthquakes and sudden displacement, and slow-onset crises like drought or disease outbreaks, ensuring that lifesaving assistance continues to reinforce long-term recovery and resilience across Syria. When crisis criteria are fulfilled, these funds are unlocked to facilitate the provision of rapid, life-saving assistance.
The framework is part of AFS’s broader effort to bridge humanitarian response with recovery and resilience under the AFS Fund Strategy 2025–2030.
