AFNS launched its Third Regular Allocation (RA3) with an estimated value of US$15 million on 20 November 2024. In line with the Allocation Strategy, RA3 maintains focus on complementarity with ongoing humanitarian efforts while focusing on localisation, early recovery, resilience, integration, protection, inclusivity, and accountability towards affected populations.
RA3 currently comprises two funding envelopes of US$7.5 million each. The first aims to enhance resilience and wellbeing through integrated and localised programming through AFNS’s Anchor Organisation pilot, channelling funding to community-based organisations. The second focuses on delivering comprehensive, multi-sectoral, and long-term initiatives to maintain essential services and protection for vulnerable populations. For the first time, RA3 will provide grants of up to 24-months, enabling long-term programming essential for more sustainable impact. The strategy was informed by in-depth community consultation and engagement with stakeholders, including the Clusters and OCHA SCHF.
Eligible AFNS partners can now submit project proposals via the AFNS Opportunities Portal with new checks and controls in place to help partners avoid submitting non-compliant proposals that would be automatically disqualified. Projects are expected to commence implementation in February 2025.
